Aging & Disabilities Advisory Council is recruiting members from Wahkiakum County
The Area Agency on Aging & Disabilities of Southwest Washington (AAADSW), is a multi-service public agency helping older adults and adults with disabilities remain in their homes. Their Advisory Council is looking for one member from Wahkiakum County to fill a vacancy in 2022.
The AAADSW Advisory Council is a group of dedicated volunteers who play an important role in the agency by representing the counties of Clark, Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, Skamania, and Klickitat.
Advisory Council members:
• Identify needs of older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers in their communities,
• Advise on services to meet those needs,
• Advocate on behalf of the people they represent,
• Assist in the development of the Agency’s four-year Area Plan.
The Advisory Council meets every third Wednesday of the month in various locations throughout the five-county service area. Travel expenses will be reimbursed. Due to COVID-19, there is an option of in-person attendance or virtual attendance. Under current Department of Health Guidelines, all meeting attendees are required to wear masks and maintain a six-foot distance from others in indoor public spaces. Advisory Council members serve one three-year term and may apply for a second three-year term.
Those interested in issues related to aging and long-term services and supports for seniors, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers are invited to join.
